To receive, we must first find somewhere within ourselves to stand.

Receiving Light explores Earth as grounding, presence and our connection between the inner and outer world. The seated figure becomes a point of stillness within a composition filled with movement, geometry and cosmic space.

Ancient geometric symbols associated with creation and consciousness — including the Seed of Life and Metatron’s Cube — appear throughout the work, suggesting an underlying order within what can otherwise feel like chaos.

The downward-pointing triangle crossed by a horizontal line, the traditional alchemical symbol for Earth, anchors the composition. Around it, the words “as above, so below; as within, so without; as the universe, so the soul” reflect the idea that our inner world and the world surrounding us are never entirely separate.

For me, Earth became both grounding and receiving — finding enough stillness within ourselves to remain open to what comes.
